The RN Nurse Manager of Labor Delivery, and Postpartum will perform a gap analysis and create a road map leading to continued success. The Nurse Manager will oversee Labor Deliver, Mother-Baby, Pediatrics, and Level 2 Nursery. Responsibilities of the RN Nurse Manager LDRP Labor Delivery, Postpartum:
Oversee daily Labor/Delivery, Postpartum, Level 2 Nursery and Pediatrics operations
24/7 responsibility of 90+ FTEs within L&D, MB, PEDS, and the Level 2 Nursery
Serve as a liaison between Obstetrics/Maternal Child health staff and leadership.
Promote a positive atmosphere within the Maternity department
Lead hiring, training, onboarding, and mentoring of new and existing staff
Report to the Executive Nurse Director of the Family Center and work collaboratively with the Chief of Obstetrics to plan and implement evidence-based care plans for supporting positive maternal patient outcomes
Evaluate the effectiveness of current obstetrics programs related to the health of maternal patients
Examine strengths and weaknesses within the entire Family Care unit
Manage patient care and practice expert labor and delivery and neonatal patient care and birthing practices
Communicate with compassion to maternal patients and families
Assist in preparation for JCAHO, IDPH, IPT, and other regulatory agency surveys
Maintain knowledge of standards and regulations of organizations such as the Massachusetts Nurses Association and AWHONN
Requirements of the RN Nurse Manager LDRP Labor Delivery, Postpartum:
BSN, Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing; MSN a plus
Current RN License for the state of Massachusetts
5+ years of nursing experience in obstetrics/maternal child health or related field
BLS certification required
RNC-MNN, RNC-OB, PALS, or associated certifications
Member of AWHONN or similar organizations preferred
2+ years of experience at the supervisory/leadership level
CNL, CNML, or related leadership certifications
Experience and knowledge of union regulations and standards
