The Emergency Department is a critical entry point for individuals seeking immediate psychiatric care. Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid psychiatric assessments of patients presenting to the Emergency Department with acute mental health concerns, including suicidality, psychosis, substance use disorders, and other psychiatric emergencies.
- Collaborate with medical providers, nurses, and crisis intervention teams to triage patients and develop individualized crisis intervention plans to ensure patient safety and stabilization.
- Provide crisis counseling, de-escalation techniques, and brief supportive interventions to patients and their families following best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
- Liaise with community mental health resources, crisis hotlines, and inpatient psychiatric facilities to facilitate timely referrals and arrange appropriate levels of care for patients requiring ongoing treatment and support.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Connecticut.
- Experience providing crisis intervention and psychiatric assessment services in an emergency department or similar setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, proficient in conducting rapid psychiatric assessments and formulating crisis intervention plans.
